Na konci září se v Mitrově na Vysočině bude konat výjimečná událost: poprvé v historii se na evropském kontinentu sejdou majitelé Louisianských leopardích psů, aby na velké mezinárodní akci předvedli své svěřence a výsledky jejich výcviku pod dohledem oficiálních amerických rozhodčích organizace NALC (National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas), která vede celosvětový registr chovu Louisianských leopardích psů.
Louisianský leopardí pes je americké plemeno, které vzniklo s největší pravděpodobností křížením místní populace psovitých šelem se psy, které na americký kontinent přivezli evropští osadníci. Psi mají i své indiánské jméno Catahoula podle stejnojmenného jezera ve státě Louisiana. K hlavním charakteristikám těchto psů patří vysoká inteligence, silný teritoriální pud. Jsou tedy dobrými hlídači, a protože se dobře snášejí s ostatními zvířaty, především koňmi, jsou často využívání na amerických rančích jako pomocníci honáků dobytka a také lovců. Jsou to ale univerzální pracovní psi. Catahoula má duši vlka, rychlost greyhounda, sílu mastifa a asertivitu beaucerona.
Při práci s dobytkem se projevuje jedinečný pracovní styl Louisianských psů, když s mnohaset kilogramovými obry komunikují neohroženě „tváří v tvář“: když se snaží přihnat zpět ke stádu zaběhnutý kus, nebo se snaží udržet stádo na jednom místě. V Evropě se Catahouly často využívají také jako psi záchranářští.
Když evropští majitelé Louisianských leopardích psů hledali na starém kontinentu místo, kde by mohli uspořádat setkání za podmínek co možná nejvíce se blížících těm v USA, objevili na české Vysočině ekologický statek Mitrov, který se zaměřuje na chov masného dobytka plemene Aberdeen Angus a zároveň disponuje speciálním sportovním areálem pro westernové sporty. Na nich jezdci na koních, novodobí kovbojové a cowgirls, měří dovednosti své a svých koní při práci se stádem telat. A protože je jedním ze „zaměstnanců“ statku Mitrov je i čtyřletý Louisianský leopardí pes Camano Island´s Elmo a současně zde již od roku 2012 probíhají pravidelně workshopy specializované na testy vloh a práci honáckých psů pod záštitou EALC ((European Association of Louisiana Catahoulas), bylo rozhodnuto o tom, že se historicky první mezinárodní setkání majitelů Louisianských leopardích psů s podporou NALC uskuteční v areálu Mitrovského dvora (http://mitrovsky.com) od 24. do 27. září 2015.
Účast na akci potvrdili majitelé Catahoul z Německa, Rakouska, Holandska, Polska, Rumunska, Slovenska a České republiky. Psi budou soutěžit např. v mantrailingu, (záchranné stopování, kdy pes sleduje individuální pachovou stopu člověka). Tato dovednost je oceňována především u psů cvičených pro záchranářské práce. Podobnou disciplínou je SAR (Search and Rescue, volné vyhledávání osob). Část účastníků předvede své psy při práci s dobytkem, k vidění bude ale i soutěž v poslušnosti (obedience) nebo bikejöringu, kdy pes v postroji za sebou táhne jezdce na kole nebo na koloběžce. Velká část účastníků přijede představit své psy pouze z hlediska exteriéru, jednoho z kritérií určující vhodnost pro další chov.
Celá akce je přístupná i široké veřejnosti, vstup do areálu Mitrovského dvora je po všechny čtyři dny volný s podmínkou mít případně vlastního psa vždy na vodítku. Ve čtvrtek a v pátek budou probíhat registrace a aktivity v okolí Mitrova, hlavní soutěže jsou na pořadu o víkendu: v sobotu to budou dobytkářské disciplíny vč. doprovodného programu , v neděli pak samotná výstava.
V sobotu 26. září bude připraven doprovodný program akce: v aréně Mitrovského dvora proběhnou ukázky westernových disciplín (rodeo) a synchronizovaná jízda šesti jezdkyň na koních, to vše pod hlavičkou Team Penning & Roping Association (www.tpara.cz). V dopoledních hodinách v sousedství soutěžní arény proběhnou farmářské trhy s nabídkou regionálních potravin a produktů.
Součástí areálu je i prodejna masa a masných výrobků z ekologické produkce statku Mitrov, venkovní stránek s občerstvením a vyhlášená steaková restaurace.
Catahoula Leopard dogs make an appearance in Mitrov
A very special event is going to take place in Mitrov in the Vysočina district at the end of September – for the first time in history, the owners of Louisiana Catahoula leopard dogs are to meet in Europe at a big international event to show off their dogs and the results of their training under the supervision of official judges of the NALC organization (National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas) which administrates the worldwide breed register of Louisiana leopard dogs.
The Louisiana leopard dog is an American dog breed which was most probably created by interbreeding of local canines with dogs that were brought to America by European settlers. The name Catahoula comes from a lake of the same name in the state of Louisiana. The main characteristics of these dogs are high intelligence and territorial behaviour, which make them good guard dogs. Thanks to the fact that they get on well with other animals (especially with horses) they are often used as helpers of drovers and hunters on American ranches, but they can as well be universal working dogs. Catahoula dogs have the spirit of a wolf, the speed of a Greyhound, the strength of a Mastiff and the assertiveness of a Beauceron.
There is a unique way of working which can be observed when the Louisiana dogs work with cattle. They fearlessly communicate “face-to-face” with what in comparison to them seem to be giants when they try to run stray cattle back to its herd or when they try to force the herd to remain at one place. In Europe, the Catahoula dogs are often used as rescue dogs.
When the European owners of Louisiana leopard dogs were looking for a place where they could organize a meeting that would correspond to conditions resembling those in the USA, they found an organic farm in Mitrov (Vysočina) which specializes in live-stock breeding of the Aberdeen Angus breed for meat and has a special sports area for western sports. Horse riders, modern cowboys and cowgirls, compare their abilities and the abilities of their horses while working with a herd of calves. As one of the “employees” of the Mitrov ranch is a four-year-old Louisiana leopard dog Camano Island´s Elmo and as there have been workshops specialized in testing of talents and work of driving dogs under the aegis of EALC (European Association of Louisiana Catahoulas) since 2012, it has been decided to hold the historically first international meeting of the owners of Louisiana leopard dogs with the support of NALC in the area of Mitrovský dvůr (http://mitrovsky.com) from 24th to 27th September 2015.
The owners of Catahoulas from Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and the Czech Republic have already confirmed their attendance. The dogs will compete in mantrailing (which could be described as rescue trailing; the dog follows the individual scent of a human). Dogs trained to become rescue dogs need to have this ability and it is highly appreciated. The SAR discipline (Search and Resue) is similar to mantrailing. One part of the participants will demonstrate the work of their dogs with cattle; the obedience discipline and bikejöring (the dog in a riding gear pulls a person riding a bike or a scooter) will be represented as well. A large number of participants will introduce their dogs from the point of view of conformation, one of the criteria determining the suitability for further breeding.
The entire event is open to public, the entrance to Mitrovský dvůr is during all four days free on condition that the viewers must have their own dogs on a leash only. Registration and events near Mitrov will take place on Thursday and Friday, the main competitions at the weekend – disciplines regarding cattle including related programme on Saturday, the exhibition itself on Sunday.
An extra programme will be arranged on 26th September – there will be a demonstration of western disciplines (rodeo and a synchronised horse ride of six riders) in the arena of Mitrovský dvůr, all of this under the aegis of Team Penning & Roping Association (www.tpara.cz). There will be an open-air market with local food and products near the arena in the morning hours.
A part of the entire area is a store where meat products from the organic farm Mitrov can be bought, a market stand with refreshments and a renowned steak restaurant.
Catahoula Leopard Dogs aus ganz Europa stellen sich in Mitrov vor
Ende September findet in Mitrov in der Region Vysočina ein außergewöhnliches Ereignis statt: zum ersten Mal in der Geschichte treffen sich die Besitzer von Catahoulas auf dem europäischen Kontinent, um ihre Hunde und die Ergebnisse ihres Trainings an dieser großen internationalen Veranstaltung unter der Aufsicht der NALC (National Association of Louisiana Catahoulas), die das weltweite Tierhaltungsregister von Catahoulas führt, vorzuführen.
Louisiana Leopard Dog ist eine amerikanische Hunderasse, die höchstwahrscheinlich durch die Kreuzung der lokalen hundeartigen Raubtiere mit Hunden, die die europäischen Siedler nach Amerika mitbrachten, entstanden ist. Die Hunde haben ihren indianischen Namen nach einem gleichnamigen See in Louisiana. Zu den Hauptmerkmalen dieser Hunde gehören hohe Intelligenz und territoriale Instinkte. Es sind also gute Wachhunde und da sie sich mit anderen Tieren (hauptsächlich mit Pferden) gut vertragen, werden sie als Hilfskraft für Viehtreiber und Jäger genutzt. Es sind also universale Arbeitshunde. Catahoulas haben die Seele eines Wolfes, die Schnelligkeit eines Greyhounds, die Stärke eines Mastiffs und die Durchsetzungsfähigkeit eines Beaucerons.
Bei der Arbeit mit Vieh zeigt sich der einzigartige Arbeitsstil der Catahoulas. Die Hunde kommunizieren furchtlos mit den Hunderte Kilo schweren Tieren, wenn sie sich bemühen, ein entlaufenes Vieh zur Herde zurückzutreiben oder die Herde an einem Ort zusammenzuhalten. In Europa werden die Catahoulas oft als Rettungshunde eingesetzt.
Als die europäischen Besitzer von Catahoulas nach einem Ort suchten, wo sie ein Treffen unter möglichst USA-ähnlichen Bedingungen veranstalten könnten, fanden sie in der tschechischen Region Vysočina den Bio-Bauernhof Mitrov, der sich auf die Fleischviehzucht der amerikanischen Rasse Aberdeen Angus konzentriert und gleichzeitig über ein spezielles Gelände für Westernsport verfügt. Die Reiter, neuzeitliche Cowboys und Cowgirls, vergleichen ihre Fähigkeiten und die Fähigkeiten ihrer Pferde bei der Arbeit mit einer Kalbherde. Da einer der „Arbeitnehmer“ auf dem Bauernhof ein vierjähriger Catahoula Hund namens Camano Island´s Elmo ist und gleichzeitig seit 2012 hier regelmäßige Workshops spezialisiert auf Tests von Veranlagungen und Arbeit der Viehtreiberhunde unter der Schirmherrschaft der EALC (European Association of Louisiana Catahoulas) stattfinden, wurde beschlossen, das historisch erste internationale Treffen der Besitzer von Catahoulas mit der Unterstützung der NALC vom 24. bis zum 27. September auf dem Bauernhof Mitrov (http://mitrovsky.com) zu veranstalten.
Die Teilnahme an der Veranstaltung sagten Besitzer von Catahoulas aus Deutschland, Österreich, den Niederlanden, Polen, Rumänien, der Slowakei und aus Tschechien zu. Die Hunde nehmen an vielen Wettbewerben teil, z. B. in Mantrailing (bei dem der Hund die individuelle Geruchsspur einer Person verfolgen soll). Diese Fähigkeit wird vor allem bei Hunden, die für Rettungsarbeit trainiert werden, geschätzt. Eine ähnliche Disziplin ist SAR (Search and Rescue, d.h. Suche nach und Rettung von Personen). Manche Teilnehmer führen ihre Hunde bei der Arbeit mit Vieh vor, zu sehen werden aber auch Wettbewerbe in Gehorsamkeit (obedience) oder Bikejöring (ein Hund in einem Geschirr zieht hinter sich eine Person auf Fahrrad oder Roller). Ein großer Teil der Teilnehmer wird nur das Exterieur ihrer Hunde präsentieren, denn dies ist eins der Kriterien, die über die Eignung des Hundes für die weitere Zucht entscheidet.
Die ganze Veranstaltung ist auch für die breite Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Der Eintritt zum Veranstaltungsgelände am Bauernhof Mitrov ist an allen vier Tagen frei. Die von den Besuchern eventuell mitgeführten Hunde sind immer an der Leine zu führen. Am Donnerstag und am Freitag erfolgt die Registrierung und es laufen Aktivitäten in der Umgebung von Mitrov. Die Hauptwettbewerbe stehen am Wochenende auf dem Programm: am Samstag die Viehtreiberdisziplinen und begleitendes Programm, am Sonntag dann die Ausstellung.
Für Samstag, den 26. September, ist dieses begleitende Programm vorgesehen: in der Arena des Bauernhofes Mitrov finden Vorführungen der Westerndisziplinen (Rodeo) und ein synchronisierter Ritt von sechs Reiterinnen statt, das ganze unter der Schirmherrschaft von Team Penning&Roping Association (www.tpara.cz). Am Vormittag gibt es in der Nähe der Arena einen Bauernmarkt mit Lebensmitteln und anderen Produkten aus der Region.
Auf dem Gelände befinden sich ein Fleischerladen mit Fleisch und Wurstwaren in Bioqualität aus der hauseigenen Produktion, ein Imbissstand und ein berühmtes Steakrestaurant.
